Aims & Ethos

Windmill Primary School is proud to be member of the local family of schools that comprise the Nene Education Trust, and  it is an absolute honour and pleasure to welcome you to our school website.

Windmill Primary School was first opened in 1971 and in after 50 years we are proud to have provided a first class education experience to a whole generation of Raunds children and adults. Ours is a vibrant and exciting school, in which all  our Windmill children are given wonderful opportunities to enjoy and achieve in their learning and to aspire to great things when they move on from us to the next stage of their education career at the end of Year 6.

We are committed from reception onwards to provide all our children with a rich and engaging educational experience both within and beyond the curriculum. All our learning is focused on helping every child to reach their full potential. Our curriculum is underpinned by three critical drivers for future success:

  • an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of our world
  • a curiosity and ambition for the world of work
  • to develop the resilience and courage to secure wellness of body and mind

We believe we are an exceptional school with caring, dedicated staff who put our Windmill children at the heart of everything we do. Pupil leadership is important to us and we have a thriving School Council and a range of other opportunities for learners to shape and drive forward exciting new developments across our school.

The culture and climate of our school is caring, inclusive and celebratory, and we believe this is the key to our successes: our children deserve nothing but the best and are welcomed into a safe and nurturing environment which supports each child’s growth, confidence and development of curiosity, awe and wonder.

As proud members of the Nene Education Trust, a family of schools and a supportive network of educational expertise, we work very closely with our partner schools locally as well as a range of national organisations. This enables us to offer a wealth of wider learning opportunities including a range of exciting activities such as annual arts performances,

Our school is a bright and well-resourced learning environment. We take pride in making our classrooms and shared areas child friendly and have great plans to improve the incredible site and garden areas we have!

We are also proud of the range of extra-curricular provision in our school. Every child is encouraged to participate in a club. The school provides  breakfast club and after-school clubs where pupils can try their hand at arts and crafts, ball skills, hula hooping, reading and a range of games and challenges to name but a few! Our lunch and after school clubs include basketball, cooking, gardening, choir, drama and many more besides!

We would love to welcome you for a visit and to share with you the magic that is Windmill Primary. I look forward to meeting you.
